Stay and Play Toddler Sessions
Wednesday's 9:45 - 11:15AM
Winter Term: Jan 7th - 4th Feb
Spring Term: Feb 25th - Mar 25th
Nature-inspired pre-school sessions designed for children aged 1–5 and their grown-ups. Rooted in Forest School principles, these sessions give children the freedom to explore, play, and connect with nature in a beautiful outdoor setting. Watch children learn through play as they build confidence, creativity, and independence, while developing a lasting love of the outdoors. All sessions take place in a safe, welcoming environment where parents and carers are encouraged to join the fun. Activities change with the seasons and adapt to the group’s interests, because the most powerful learning happens when children are truly engaged and inspired.

What to Wear
Sessions take place outdoors in all weather conditions, so please dress appropriately. We recommend wearing layers for warmth and flexibility, along with long-sleeved tops, long trousers, and closed-toe shoes to help keep everyone comfortable and protected. On puddle days don't forget the waterproofs and sunny days don't forget the sun hat!

Forest School in a nutshell...
The FSA has 6 core principles:
Forest School is a (1) long-term approach, giving learners time to explore the seasons, experience change, and build resilience. (2) Leaders continuously observe and adapt sessions based on the group’s needs and interests. (3) In a natural setting, learners connect with nature and take ownership of their experience, which supports (4) holistic growth. Sessions are shaped around individual development and group interests, encouraging a strong sense of (5) community and respect for others. Practitioners commit to ongoing professional development and create thoughtful session plans. (6) Risk is embraced as a valuable part of learning, with learners supported in making choices that match their environment and wellbeing.

Who's Running Things at WVFS?
"Hi, I’m Emma. I discovered Forest School through parent-and-toddler sessions with my child and was inspired by its approach to learning and connection with nature. Since then, I’ve spent eight years training, gaining hands-on experience, and working with skilled practitioners. Now a Level 3 Forest School Leader and a qualified Playworker, I’m passionate about supporting children’s learning through play and nature, and I enjoy developing my practice."
